JOB SUMMARY

 Our national, public sector consulting firm is seeking a Director to lead the Financial Services Florida Practice.  The purpose of the Director will be to generate and close business development opportunities, develop and grow a successful practice in the state, and manage staff responsible for preparing cost allocation plans and user fee studies.

 The position will be based out of our Tampa, FL office (or remote within Florida for special circumstances) and will require travel approximately 50% of the time throughout the state.

 To be successful, candidates should have public sector financial analysis experience and have led past cost-of-service studies. This position will also understand public sector agency sales and business development. Advanced writing and oral presentation skills are essential. Excel skills are a plus. The right skills will substitute for a lack of experience and support will be provided. 

MAJOR DUTIES 

  • Responsible for budget-level objectives and performance
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Must balance business development activities with existing project coordination
  • Work with managers and consultants to successfully serve clients
  • Actively participate with the Financial Services management team to accomplish growth and quality objectives
  • Generate and write new business proposals and presentations
  • Concise, effective writing for internal and external summaries of results, work product or status updates
  • Perform cost-of-service studies or analysis for public and/or private sector
  • Develop daily work plans and direct staff priorities and activities
  • Lead client meetings, initiate client contacts and conduct presentations
  • Engage with and influence finance and business leaders across all levels of public-sector organizations
  • Consult with other agencies to obtain the benefit of their knowledge and experience in subject areas
  • Familiarity with utility rates desired, but not required
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE POSITION 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially strong writing skills, with analytical experience in Excel a plus
  • Experience using basic algebra and mathematics involving the practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions or measurements
  • Ability to work independently outside a traditional office environment required
  • Ability to lead fast-paced delivery in challenging public-sector environments, work with other senior leaders to foster positive client relationships, identify new business opportunities with existing clients and prospective clients.
  • Develop new intellectual capital
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Self-motivated, initiative-driven and able to develop practice in the State of Florida
  • The ability to prepare and present clear and concise client-ready documents
  • The ability to work as part of a team or individually while meeting deadlines in a multi-tasking environment with competing deadlines 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required; accounting or business majors preferred
  • Master's degree from an accredited university is preferred
  • Requires eight (8) or more years of relevant experience
  • State or local government accounting, finance or grant management experience highly preferred, with experience in a business development and business planning
  • At least five years of project management experience, preferred
  • Florida-based required, with Tampa Bay area highly desired
